Trinity can feel the stolen scalpel burning a hole in her pocket. Fuck it. “Wanna get a drink?”
Hope flickers in her chest and it must show on her face because Mel falters. Trinity kicks herself. Last thing she needs is pity from Miss Ren Fucking Faire. She squares her shoulders.
“Look, Melon, if you need to get home, feed your fish or whatever, I get it. Don’t let me stop you.”
Mel’s brow furrows in confusion. “I don't own any fish,” she says. “Actually, Becca won one at a carnival once when we were kids but, funny story-”
Santos interrupts. “What I mean, Mellow Yellow, is you don’t have to humor me. I’m a big girl. You can tell me to kick rocks.”
“Oh.” Mel frowns. “You have a very strange way of communicating.”
Trinity and Mel hang out after the Fourth of July shift. It’s all downhill from there.

A moment in which time seems to slow down, when you look down at the ground and you realize you’re helpless to stop it. No matter what you do, no matter how hard you’ll fight it, gravity will win. And you want to fight it, oh, yes, you do, but even the most stubborn people in the world have to admit at some point that they’ve lost this time. There’s nothing to do but accept it. To stop the fight and brace yourself instead.
Slowly, and then all at once, time rushes back.
And you fall.

Summary
For the past 2000 years, Judas Iscariot has been wandering the earth, cursed with immortality after he caused the death of the Son of God. He lives in a rundown apartment, his main mode of transportation is a rusty bike, and he works at a drive-thru coffee stand that is definitely doing illegal business.
But all this comes to a head when Jesus reappears, and wants nothing more than to gather his friend, his beloved, in his arms and ride off into the sunset, regardless of Judas’ fears.
Can Judas withstand the sun that is the Lion of God? Or will he stay in the dark side of the moon for all eternity?
