"Oh shut up!" Takumi slid down in the passenger seat. The handcuffs clinked. "How the hell aren't you freaking out right now?"
After all, Takumi couldn't stop thinking: there was a body in the trunk.

If Hitoshi had been hooked, she'd now be on the line. "On what?"
The sinker: "Izuku said it was something to help you and Eri."
In other words, Izuku won't move from her station until she's forcibly dragged from her desk. She was a master of excuses, waving people away with a smile as blinding as Mirio's—practiced in the art of keeping people away in a different manner than what Hitoshi had learned.

"Aotsuki," he murmured. A drop of his own blood kissed the corner of his lip. Tentatively, he reached, one finger at a time. "Aotsuki."

The strength he held was little, but as they drew closer and closer to the exit, he needed to ascertain her intentions and plan accordingly. Trusting her was a fool's errand, and he had already allowed himself to be dragged unquestioning for long enough.
"What..." He cleared his throat, took a deep breath. "What, by chance, is happening?"
"We're leaving." Azem's voice was quiet, tinged with resignation—some mixture of grief and determination, perhaps, but G'raha could not name why. It was the same non-answer he received before.
"For another round of interrogation from Emet-Selch?"
She was silent for a moment. "No."

As much as the scale of the expedition made him tempted to forget about it. If his sister wasn't here as one of the leaders, as interesting as it would have been to explore the Crystal Tower, Aze'a is certain he would have stayed away.
She smiled at him, sweetness and kindness, that expression she often had but was always a little softer for family, bloomed on her face, and, to his surprise, didn't quite dissipate as she turned to look at the person who had followed her over. "G'raha, this is my brother, Aze'a."
His eyes shined as he extended his hand in a polite greeting that made Aze'a's stomach quench with unease, "G'raha Tia, a Student of Baldesion, at your service. The pleasure is entirely mine. It's an honor to meet another one of the Warriors of Light."
