    "Wait, before I leave, can I use your bathroom, Daddy?"

    Phoenix blinks in despair. "Why my bathroom?"

    Trucy jokingly scoffs, "Didn't you just say Uncle Miles was in the bathroom? Did you mean the hallway bathroom? 'Cause, I don't wanna bother him, so let me use yours before I head out --" Trucy begins to reach out to Phoenix's doorknob before he swiftly moves in front of it.

    "Uh... you can't." Phoenix pales, clearing his throat once more before continuing, "I meant he's actually in my bathroom. The hallway bathroom is free, sweetheart." Phoenix states, with a poorly-attempted stone face.

    Trucy is a very, very, smart girl.

    She squints her eyes at her father as he purses his lips into a flat line, trying to smile while anxiously waiting for some kind of response.

    Her face morphs into some kind of recognition before saying, “Huh… you kinda resemble Uncle Miles.”

    Immediately, the cat meows back as if responding to that particular comment. Oddly enough, it seems pleased yet petrified.

    Now that she says it… this cat does have some strong similarities to Edgeworth. It’s even got a bunch of white fur on its chest like Edgeworth's cravat. Distantly, Phoenix remembers all of Edgeworth's cat-like traits. Huh.

    OR, Edgeworth gets turned into a cat.

He opened his duffle bag, touched something soft and expensive, and abruptly realized he’d packed one of Kristoph’s sweaters. He pulled it out, staring at the tiny knit stitches in the delicate blue cashmere, and finally buried his face in it and cried.

    His brother was never coming back. Would never see the error of his ways and be the brother that Klavier needed. There would never be some miracle turn where Kristoph was revealed to be working with the police to expose corruption, and the last few years had all been a lie. Everything he’d hoped for was just...gone.

    From the moment the Judge banged his gavel, Edgeworth was relentless. But it wasn’t his usual cunning, calculated cleverness—it was an aggressive, cruel hostility. He was purposefully aiming to humiliate, tearing down Phoenix’s arguments with a malignance that Phoenix hadn’t seen since the dark days of the Von Karma era.
    “Really, Wright?” Edgeworth sneered across the courtroom. “Your performance today is utterly piteous. It is an embarrassment to the legal profession, let alone this court. Look at you, grasping at straws like a drowning amateur. I almost have to remind myself who you are, because watching you stumble through these elementary arguments, it is as if this is your very first trial against me.”
    Phoenix flinched. Ouch. Edgeworth... where is this coming from? What did I do?

    Edgeworth suddenly starts acting like the Demon Prosecutor again, and Phoenix knows something is wrong. He is determined to get to the bottom of it.
    Takes place after the original trilogy but before the disbarment era. No amnesia, no time travel. Lots of feelings, pining, and angst. Your Honor, they are in love. Don't worry, I reward them after I put them through it.
