“Wasn’t sure if you’d remember me”, his eyes met hers again as he finally spoke.
They stood in silence for a fleeting while, until Leon shifted his weight again and his composition eased up a little before he revealed an almost playful smile to her: “Didn’t want to upset a senator. It never looks good on the records.”
“Well, lucky for you, I’m not upset that easily”, she countered his smile while tucking away a strand of hair that had fallen out of place earlier when she had tried to shake the memories away.

The honorably discharged major feasted his eyes on the Michelin-grade course served to him in the shape of a body clad in a cherry-red t-shirt that clung to his nicely rounded muscles, accentuating each curve and dip from his pectorals to his narrowing waist and form-fitting jeans. The man that the body belonged to had not yet noticed him – a fact that pulled the corner of Jack’s lips into a gnarly smirk, which combined with the vicious, relatively fresh gash slicing his face into two, threatened to reveal his carnivorous canines.
Krauser could have bet that he must taste bitter. All the pretty ones did. Tender, but bitter. It was always a choice between that or the sweet and chewy. In another life, Jack would always go for the latter but now, after years of enduring, of surviving , he didn’t want to grind every piece extensively until his jaws were sore. Now he just wanted something soft to sink his teeth into; A juicy piece of meat already pounded tender by someone else.
