Danny Fenton’s wet cold dead body was so heavy in Lancer’s single cradling arm.
“Who are you?” Lancer asked very simply.
And Danny, arms still raised high, let out a sigh deep enough to deflate his shoulders. Whatever light was in his eyes went dull, resigned to an acceptance Lancer could not in the moment understand.
“I am your worst student,” Danny answered. And he lowered one arm exclusively to point. “And THAT is the dead body of my ghost clone.”

Alone on the farthest outskirts of Amity Park, Danny Fenton and Edward Lancer bury the dead body of Danny's clone. It is long and tedious work, and Danny can't dodge Lancer's questions forever. Surely it's only fair of Lancer to demand to know what he has been pulled into. Surely Danny could use someone on his side, now that his evenings are spent burying his clones.

Tucker purses his lips. Danny has gained a reputation for sleeping in class, for being impossible to wake unless one of his friends is the one shaking him. There was only one class Danny had without either Sam or Tucker, and the single time he’d ‘fallen asleep’ in that class was the beginning of one of many Incidents, although this was more traumatizing than others.
It was at the beginning of this ordeal, when Danny had been falling out of his body left and right. When a teacher had tried to wake the teen and his limp body had flopped to the side, and his head had lolled. He’d slid out of his chair, legs crumpling and twisting on the tile, eyes falling open, unseeing and blank, lips barely parting with not a hint of an exhale even as his head knocked against the corner of the seat.
The teacher had screamed. She’d thought he was dead.
Ha. If only.
