Summary
Commander Fox quickly learns three things about Coruscant.
One: For all everyone talks about its overcrowding, it is unnervingly empty. All its life crams into one tiny sector, the rest of the planet dedicated to their survival, and there’s no reason for it. Only vanity could have stretched it so high, all the way into what was once the stratosphere before the powers that be pushed it aside, and yet it stretches further still. He wishes he could be surprised.
Two: It is thoroughly uninterested in obeying the laws of nature, or physics, or anything really that would force it into some semblance of sense. It is snarling and furious and alive against all odds, slamming itself shut or tearing itself open as it pleases, willing and able to draw blood just to subsist a moment longer and wreaking vengeance whenever a drop is spilled. At first he fears this, and then it saves his life, and he understands that it will never be that simple.
Three: It is its people’s city, which means it is his. Evil forgot to account for this.
