    Summary

Exos didn’t tire. Not like the organics did. No lactic acid to burn in the muscles they didn’t have, no lungs to painfully drag thickened air through, no digestible fuel to run short on. Exos kept going, until they didn’t.

“Az,” Yarrow-15 said, untired. “Az, my arm just fell off.”

    Bookmarker's Notes

"Fred." The man leans in closer, close enough that he can smell his breath, feel his burning gaze. "Answer the question."

Langston reaches up to claw at his collar and loosen his tie. The room feels smaller, darker. Claustrophobic. The click of typewriter keys and ding of the return echoes down from the unseen Panopticon, distant, and ever-near.

"The journey is kind of the whole point," he concedes. "But. It's better if you're not spoiled for your first read. Knowing makes the second read— or, or watch— or whatever. Worth it. You notice more. You get more out of it."
