The idea that he might be listening to Will fuck someone else made his stomach drop. The hunger from before turned to nausea as an image of Will on top of some random, faceless girl flashed in his mind.

Suddenly feeling very grateful that their apartment had carpet instead of hardwood floors, Mike turned to leave as quietly as he could.

“Will…Will…”
Mike’s groans and the squeaking of his bed continued getting louder and more frantic until, suddenly, they stopped.
The room fell silent, Mike’s heavy breathing the only sound, and Will became intensely aware of his own breath as he heard Mike start to stir.
Even though his heart was pounding in his chest, and he felt like he was about to pass out from lack of oxygen, he forced himself to control every inhale, every exhale, slowing down to an almost painful pace, desperate not to give Mike any indication that he was awake.
Faintly, he heard Mike sit up and speak to himself under his breath, “Shit. Not this again.”
Again!?
Will listened intently to every movement Mike made as he got out of bed, walked across the room, and opened a drawer. He heard the rustle of fabric and the soft snap of an elastic waistband, and his cock throbbed with renewed force as the realization hit him.
He came.
He came from dreaming about me.

Mike has wet dreams about Will in their shared dorm room, and Will gradually coaxes him into making them a reality.

“It is, Will,” he hears Mike’s voice break over another hitched breath, “I know you’re… I just want you to be happy. I never want you to come back to Hawkins, but I’m fucking selfish. I’m so selfish, and I’m sorry.”
Will lets the tears spill over and he lets that want that’s always itching under his skin show itself.
“My whole life I’ve missed you every second you’ve been away from me,” Will confesses quietly into the receiver.
If you’re pathetic, I’m wretched.

Not long after the final battle, Mike and Will were inseparable– until Will moved out to New York.
Despite the weekly calls and the freedom of living their lives without terror, there’s no world in which they could last so long apart without it feeling like torture.
Will gets a call, and three days later, Mike is at his doorstep.
It only takes a day for them to fall back together again.

Summary
After helping save the world, Mike Wheeler takes comfort in the fact that everything can go back to normal. Or, as normal as it can be, with his newly discovered less-than-friendly feelings towards Will.
At least they don't have anything supernatural to worry about anymore...
...excluding the discovery of a vat full of an inter-dimensional aphrodisiac, that Mike just has to knock over during cleaning duty with Will. Because when have things ever been normal for them?
