Jordan debates answering at all; he weighs his options, the horrible reality of having to confront anything Rex had done, anything he himself had done, anything that had happened, period. But Raven is concerned, and in his mind she is simply a scared kid, and he doesn’t have the heart to tell her to fuck off and mind her damn business. He bites his lip, not hard enough to draw blood but hard enough that the pain wakes him up a little.
“It was my fault,” he forces out, wishing to have a better way of articulating the absolute mess that was the whole situation. He briefly wonders if Raven would even believe him. “I egged him on, challenged him and yelled at him, all because I was jealous. Jealous that he had that fancy ass job, jealous that he had the privilege of being such an uptight asshole, jealous that he was young and successful like I’ve never been. Nothing would’ve happened if I just swallowed my fucking words and did his stupid ass job.”
