As soon as he was done speaking the lump in his throat was back. Something rising up in his chest that he couldn’t handle any more. Something that was seizing control of him. He grabbed the stool next to him and threw it to the side.
“Damn it!” He yelled.
It was something. A release.
Heavy silence followed as his tears began to flow. He repositioned the cloth and slung an arm over it, leaning back and looking up again. He breathed, pulling himself together before continuing. It felt important that Geto know what happened.Or:

“I’m really excited we’re doing this,” Tenna whispered, voice a low buzz of static in Spamton’s ear before he pulled away and stood, fussily brushing dirt off his trousers. “I think we’re going to have a really beautiful partnership.”
“A lucrative partnership.”
“That’s what I said.” Tenna lingered for a moment, looking excited and awkward all at the same time and then stiffened, screen gone black and antennae standing at attention, a zap of electricity rippling between them. He raced off, floor thumping and warping wildly underneath the sheer weight of him, the whole set awash in light. “She’s here! She’s got her cup of hot cocoa ready and everything! Places, people, places! I don’t want to see any loitering! I don’t want to see any lollygagging! And, god forbid, I don’t want to see any LAGGING BEHIND! Come on, on the double, iiiiiiiiiit’s SHOWTIME!”
Spamton settled backstage in the uncomfortable folding chair that Tenna had set up for him and resigned himself to a dull evening of corny jokes and unbearably sappy ballads, only to be greeted with the most surprising fact of all.
Tenna was good.

Summary
The biggest mistake he ever made was picking up that phone.
Yearning to reconnect with Tenna after years of isolation, Spamton pays his former partner a visit. But when things don’t go as planned, Spamton resorts to desperate measures in order to get Tenna to recognize him.
The biggest mistake he ever made was letting Spamton walk out the door.
Now that the “Golden Age” of TV Time is over, Tenna spends every waking hour wondering which day might be his last. Without Spamton in his life to keep him from becoming obsolete, Tenna spirals into an uncertain future. He can’t figure out which is stronger: his resentment toward Spamton for abandoning him, or the intense pining for the love they once shared.
Try as they might to mend their broken bond, there is no recovering from this fatal error of their own creation.

The pippins, who Tenna recognized as the company’s under-the-table betting coordinator, spoke. “We’re here to speak about our contracts. Some of these conditions, they’re stacked against us. It’s not fair and none of us will stand for it.”
A chorus of “yeahs” and clicks and simultaneous saxophone played in tandem.
“It looks like your contracts are up at the end of the month. Were you wanting to renew or move on?”
A zapper spoke up. “We’s thinkin’ of renewin’, but only if our demands are met.”
“I’m sure we can [you rub my back I’ll rub yours] and work together.” Spamton gave his, in Tenna’s opinion, extremely trustworthy smile.
“We want to be paid in real dark dollars, not TV Time Non-fungible Points™!” A coffee maker, close friend to the beloved company watercooler, spoke up.
“And dental insurance, to keep our smiles picture perfect!” the Shuttah added.Tenna, already worried about obsolescence, gets the fright of his life when his workers decide to employ collective bargaining against him. Can Spamton, sleazy salesman that he is, save the day?

So when the sword descends on him, Spamton can’t tear his gaze away. Quite literally unable to do so, being bound to the top of Kris’ head as the Dealmakers, but even if he was, he imagined this moment so many times, it felt so surreal to actually watch it happen.
He imagined it pained, mortified, grieving, when he first found out. He imagined it every time he saw Tenna’s smiling face in the back rooms, in bars, or curled up on the couch. Later, he imagined it triumphant, gratified, vindictive, when nested on the bottom of the dumpster, alone, muttering the names of his lost friends all to himself.
In all honesty, even after they parted, he imagined it both ways, at the same time.

After the events of Chapter 3 which unfurled in front of Spamton's very own eyes, he tries to find Tenna to get back something (someone) he left him. But when he sees how glooby his ex-partner is... he wonders if he can get some help from Castletown Darkners to fix that.
A mix of comedy and drama, cause I can't have my sillies without the tragic, and my tragics without some sillies. That's the true UTDR way!

He didn't want to believe it. This was, bordeline terrifying. Surely they must be some kind of props, weren't they? Maybe all he needed was a more calmer place to process this, it could all just be a misunderstanding, no? After all, the Internet got so confusing so quickly, this must be just another flashy trend for them
