He just has to reach out to George. To confirm that yes this is real. To be absolutely certain this is the love of his life sleeping peacefully in their home on their couch.
Just as Dream extends his hand he feels a whacking sensation against his leg. His eyes widen as he twists his body around lightning fast, fists in the air expecting an intruder.
Dream frowns as he looks into space. There’s no one there. Dream lowers his fists and then bap! The hit against his leg returns.
Dream’s eyes dart downward. Well if it is an intruder….it’s a tiny one.
A small blond boy, that can’t be over the age of five, with huge blue eyes pouts at Dream in an attempt of a glare with a cardboard paper towel roll held in defiance at Dream like a sword.
Dream bites his cheek to avoid bursting out in laughter. The kid narrows his eyes studying Dream. He raises his ‘sword’ higher in the air prepared to strike. His voice is filled with genuineness, entirely serious, “Get away from George meanie!”

As George retreats, typing something silently into the computer, Dream can’t help but wonder if it would be easier to flat out ask the athletic nurse out after all.
They’ve been at this for nearly half a year now. This… thing they’ve got going. Half a year of quick-witted flirting, lingering touches. It’s a comfortable cycle. Dream fucks up in a game and sprains, or pulls, or bruises something, then runs to George to fix it- George, with his kind hands and hidden smiles. All the while Dream slips in cheesy pick up lines and teasing remarks to make George laugh or roll his eyes or call him an idiot.
He loves when George calls him an idiot.
