    “Sanemi is not a morning person,” pipes in Kyojuro, then rushes inside, “How was—”

    “Shut up!”

    “It’s not morning,” finds Senjuro himself saying to the empty air.

    “You never saw him in the morning,” declares Shuya, “Nobody was ever brave enough to wake him up.”

    Over a year after Kyojuro’s death, Akaza cannot shake the feeling of having made a mistake by killing him. Curiosity draws him to the Rengoku Estate, where he discovers that Kyojuro has a younger brother. Naturally, he seizes the opportunity to have a different but surely equally skilled person to fight, and kidnaps Senjuro.

    Upon discovering that Senjuro is not, in fact, a skilled fighter, hope and boredom compel Akaza to mould the boy into a worthy opponent. Senjuro, hopeful for a chance (however slim it might be) to avenge his brother, agrees to stay.

    For the next two years, they form a bond based on tension, skill, growth, promises, and lies. In the end, their goals and futures will be forever changed by having known and cared for one-another.
