She found herself once again staring down the Parker kid in her office. It was a familiar scene. He was curled into the sagging armchair she’d scooped off the curb, feet scuffing against his duffel bag on the floor, arms hunched over the backpack in his lap. Over the past two months and six moves, the boy had quietly trimmed down all of his possessions to fit in those two bags.
“What,” said Rhee, “the fuck.”
Peter shrugged, defensive.
If someone had told her three months ago that this doe-eyed white boy with his cheerful geekery and his pathological adherence to respectful forms of address would be one of her most troublesome cases, she would have laughed them out of the room. Now, she wasn’t laughing.

The sages used to tell stories of the old days: a time of terror when the tyrant Avatar suppressed all people and divided the land between the Fire Nation, Air Nomads, Water Tribes, and Earth Kingdom. But everything changed when Sozin’s comet allowed the Fire Nation to fight back. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, stood in the way of a prosperous and united world. But just when we almost managed to defeat him, he vanished.
A hundred years have passed, but the world cannot truly be united until the Avatar is found. Three years ago, my father entrusted me with a sacred task: to find and capture the Avatar, and thereby redeem a great shame and failure of the Fire Nation. And although many believe this is an impossible task, I still have hope. I still believe that, somehow, I will find the Avatar and restore honor to the Fire Nation and to myself.

Summary
Peter Parker: trans, tired, and shit on over and over again by the universe. Also Spider-Man, a hardcore hero, and just 100% the best boy.
There was a reason that Peter Parker decided to become Spider-Man, to become a vigilante, to look out for the little guy. The systems we currently have obviously aren't doing the job well enough. People are getting hurt. This story explores in depth the many, many flaws of the United States justice and social safety systems, and how Peter Parker and Spider-Man deal with them. This includes everything from foster care to food banks to access to medical treatment to courts to policing to prison and parole.
An exploration of grief, loss, and trauma. Expect bureaucracy, lots of OCs just trying their best, and righteous fucking anger. Plus lots of radical caring and empathy. Eventual hopeful ending.

Jason clocks every tiny flicker as Clint’s eyes catch on the hooked scar on his cheek, the paper-thin white line across his throat, and the deep swath of skin that’s exposed by his shirt.“You don’t gotta go,” he says, and wow, James isn’t the only one with a practiced, panty-dropping accent. The twang has all but disappeared, replaced by something warm and husky that immediately brings tousled sheets and bare skin to mind. His shirt is sticking to him like a second skin, revealing peaked nipples and abs that are borderline obscene.
Jason freezes halfway off the barstool, the toes of his right foot barely on the ground.
Clint hooks his chin over James’ shoulder and looks Jason over even more thoroughly – and the first glance hadn’t been anything like careless. He hums as his eyes drag over where the wool of Jason’s pants has stretched tightly over his thighs. His hands creep around James’ waist, settle on his hips. He tilts his head a little, still evaluating Jason - for what, he doesn’t know.
“Oh,” he says, a handful of seconds later, sounding delighted. Like he’s discovered a secret. “This is the guy.”

Bucky changes lanes, glaring at a Suzuki going ten kilometres below the speed limit in the passing lane. “Why the fuck are you so excited for this one, anyway?”
Jason grins, sharp and feral. “Human traffickers, baby. Looking for someone young and pretty to round out their next shipment. We know where they’re gonna hit tonight and SHIELD’s already nabbed the buyers, so we don’t even need to leave anyone alive once we locate the rest of the merchandise.”
And, yeah, there’s a lot of things about the job that Jason likes, but this scenario is pretty much custom made for him. He seems to get a very specific sort of satisfaction from playing all dewy-eyed and vulnerable, letting the bad guys think they have the upper hand, and then raining deadly fury down on their heads.
Well, Bucky thinks philosophically, everyone needs a hobby.

“Listen,” the guy says, and his voice is low and kinda rough, and he’s got an accent Bucky can’t quite place. “I’m not tryin’ to overstep, but I overheard kind of a lot and like. I know you’re, uh… trying to work through some shit, man, and I get it. I, uh, had kinda a fanatical upbringing myself. But I’m not sure this guy is the one to work it out with, you know?”
Bucky… is going to kill Clint. Suddenly all of Clint’s odd comments and strangely demure behavior and even his clothes start to make a kind of insane sense. He’s play-acting at more than just a first date. Clint’s pretending to be someone else entirely, and Bucky’s not sure if it’s a joke or a bad attempt at seduction, but either way a heads-up before the evening started would have prevented a hell of a lot of confusion and maybe prevented Bucky from nearly murdering his husband in a bar in Hell’s Kitchen on a Wednesday night.
