George took a deep breath of the bar's stale air and held Verstappen's gaze. He waited until he was close enough, and stood, a fluid movement that sent a stab of pain through his bruised abdomen, a perfect reminder of Senna, of the betrayal, of Max's hand on the wheel. He used that pain as fuel, injecting the necessary chill into his veins to offer a smile.
"Come on," George said, the smile sharp as a splinter. "It's been a shit year. I want to celebrate by doing something truly reckless." His plastic, empty, terrible smile widened.
