Summary
"It's what's on the inside that matters." That's an easy thing for some people to say. It's not so easy when Shayne wakes up to find that his wife and his friend have somehow swapped bodies. He still loves Courtney, of course he does, but the daily act of loving her while she looks like Spencer is something he never could have prepared for. Will he be able to see more than skin deep? And how will it change the way he sees himself?

Summary
She tried, and tried, and tried to wash out the hole, to fill it with platelets and fibrin and let it scab over and heal. But some wounds are too big to heal well. Some scar, deep and ugly and refuse to leave.
And, the thing is, scabs are so easy to pick off and open again, and she really, really doesn't mean to keep fucking picking. But when her skin itches and she can't seem to get anything right, what else is she to do?

Summary
‘But if you want to talk about this Langdon shit, again, call a therapist’
Garcia tenses at the memory. She doesn’t know why she said that. Ok, no, actually, she did. It was because the two residents bickering was getting on her very last nerve. The lack of professionalism was driving her up the wall. She hadn’t felt that frustrated at work in a long time. And she doesn’t know why she says mean things when she gets frustrated. Now she can’t help but wonder if her comments from earlier had pushed Santos to this edge.

Summary
The words Trinity was thinking were out of her mouth before she could consider them. “I just didn’t want him to touch me again.”
“Again?” His voice was suddenly spiked with alarm, so much so that Trinity couldn’t quite decipher his confusion for a second longer than she should’ve. “He’s done this before?”
“No, not him,” she clarified, then raised her left hand to make the vague outline of a man in the air. “I mean. Him.”
Langdon looked at the blank space she had gestured to, like it might explain what she meant. He sounded wary as he said, “Okay, Santos.”

Summary
Her stomach jolts at his words, something cold spreading through her bloodstream so fast it makes her fingertips tingle. No.
His hand tightens around her neck, and she thinks that it’s overkill, really, because she’s not sure that she’d be able to breathe even if it wasn’t there, even if she didn’t just get essentially body slammed by what felt like a football linebacker. His other hand is moving lower, squeezing and grabbing roughly at her stomach, her hips, her thigh.
And she’s trained for this. She’s planned for this. She’s thought through this scenario in her head, so many times, what she would do if it happened again. She takes Krav Maga, for fuck’s sake.
But she can’t breathe, and she can’t move, and she’s 12 years old again.
____
Trinity is assaulted at a bar. Her least favorite coworker is, somehow, the one who’s there for her after.

who put me in your way to find? / what right had you, not to let me die?
Trinity thinks the worst day of her year is behind her. It is, technically. But another shift preying on her already weakened state leads her back up to the roof, and she barely had the time to process the day before. She doesn't want to talk about it, doesn't want to sit in her apartment with Dennis in silence, just wants a safe place to think. But her cover's been blown, and Yolanda knows where to go looking for her now.

Summary
After an eternity, Garcia lightly pinches the bridge of her nose, sighing exasperatedly. “Fine, I’ll bite. What actually is your fucking problem with Langdon?” Trinity’s breath hitches. “And don’t tell me it’s just about the meds, because it isn’t. It’s been ten months, Trinity. If it were that simple, you’d be over it or confronting him directly. I don’t need this bullshit. Tell me or tell a fucking therapist.”
Trinity flounders, mouth opening and closing uselessly. Obviously, she realised Garcia would hit this point sooner or later; she’s too smart, too observant, not to notice and too headstrong not to confront her about it. Still, she thought she had a little more time; maybe Garcia would even end things before they had to have an honest conversation. “I…” She can’t. She’s tried to get the words out before— to her parents, her surviving friends, to a therapist, to the cop that eventually came to speak to her after it all (not that that went anywhere without her testimony).

Summary
She thought about the baby again. About how soft she'd felt. About the wanting.
You don't get to want things, she thought, not for the first time. People like you don't get to want things. You know what you are.
A failure. That was the word. Not the surgery — never the surgery, the surgery was the one place she was not a failure, the one place her hands did exactly what she asked them to, and the outcome made sense, and the variables were manageable. Everything else. Every soft human thing she had ever tried to do. She was so tired of being competent in one room and catastrophic in every other.Bookmarked by cascadeoceanwave

It's been four months since outing the ED's golden boy, and she's still paying for it. It's not quite how she imagined the start of her residency would be, but she can deal. She always does.
Then a shift goes sideways and the dealing stops being so simple. She's thrust back into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. And this kind of attention? It never comes with anything good.
She's been there. She's done that. And she's pretty fucking sure she wants absolutely no part of what's coming next.---
aka Trinity Santos has had a rough few months, shit hits the fan, and now she has to navigate a whole new ED vibe that leaves her wanting to actually just go back to being the good-ol' department outcastBookmarked by cascadeoceanwave

Summary
"Why don't you go shower while I get dinner started?"
Trinity's mouth opens and for a brief second, nothing comes out. It's not that she doesn't have words. She has too many words, stacked in her throat like plates she's afraid to drop—a series of things she would love to vomit at Yolanda's feet, purging them from her body so that she doesn't have to carry them around anymore. But that's not what she asked. Trinity swallows hard, choking down her desire to be difficult. Now is not the time for complaints. Instead, she forces a weary smile, and hedges, "You don't have to do that."

Summary
Trinity gives herself a second on the final landing, fingers gripping the railing hard enough that the metal leaves a faint red impression in her palm when she pulls away. She takes a steadying breath in through her nose, out through her mouth. Then, she scrapes together her usual mask as she makes her way over to Yolanda's front door, pushes her shoulders back, and knocks.
Yolanda opens the door with a grin that hits Trinity hard in the soft, vulnerable center of her chest. "Hi, baby," she greets, warm and bright and so fucking happy to see her that Trinity feels it like sunlight on her face after a twelve-hour shift, even though it’s well past dusk.

Summary
"She loved all her family and friends, but Travis existed in a separate category. He was something else entirely; her best friend, her closest confidant, the one person she could rely on more than anyone else except maybe her mother. While all those descriptions were apt and true, none of them fully encompassed the depth of their bond, at least not to Taylor. She pitied the fact that she could mastermind lines to create her lyrical genius but fail to come up with the words to define one of the most important people in her life."

“You’re smoking too. Great. Just absolutely fucking fabulous.” You hadn’t noticed the tight little cigarette ‘til she’d brought it to her lips. Your exasperation just seemed to egg her on— she ashed it near enough to your plush bath robe to make you want to choke her out. You made the motion of it and she laughed joyously.
Somehow, it was infectious
