Summary
Peter and his class go on a field trip to TezCorp in New Jersey, a chipset manufacturer. While there, the class is excited to encounter Tony Stark, who is there for some kind of business meeting. Tony spots Peter and tells the teacher he needs to ‘borrow’ him for a minute, and the class watches as Tony puts his arm around Peter’s shoulders. All the way back to school the class pesters Peter about his relationship to Tony. They want to know if Peter is Tony’s son. They have no idea how much Peter wishes he could just answer that in the affirmative. Fluff and minor angst.

Tony casts him a withering look, gets up, and returns from the kitchen with an ice pack wrapped in a dish towel. “This should help with the swelling.”
“Oh, goodie.” Peter accepts the ice pack with an eye roll. “I love using these things every day. Love ’em more than Ned.”
“Are you usually this much of an asshole when you’re sick, or is this just special treatment for me?”

Who even gets sick on their birthday? One (1) sticky boy, apparently. Tony swears Peter Parker is a walking, (over)talking, sneezing curse because before he knows it, he, too, is sick on his birthday. There was a time people would’ve called Peter an optimist, maybe even rightly so. He probably would’ve agreed back then, too—before the gray skin, glazed white eyes, and the smell of rotting flesh had become his new normal. Now, he would call himself a realist. If Aunt May and Uncle Ben were here, he wouldn’t be so lost. No, he certainly wouldn’t be so lost. Anyone would be better off not alone, especially at thirteen. But he didn’t have them now. He hadn’t had them from the beginning of the apoc… all this.
