Summary
So he watches him slumber, for there is nothing else to do, or so he tells himself. Like this, he can observe all he wants, and the mermaid can’t make a fuss. He brings a gentle hand to tuck his bangs behind his ear, and traces his fingertips down his jaw.
Even if he finds Phainon irritating, even if he wishes to be alone, he can’t relinquish the fact he saved him. Found him in the dark abyss and plucked him from his grave. For that, he does not know if he should be grateful, but he knows he should be less harsh with him.
Mydeimos tries to find a cure for his terminally ill mother, Queen Gorgo, but attempt after attempt he fails. On his last chance, he captures a mermaid, a creature whose flesh should solve his woes, but he can't bring himself to kill and sets him free.
And when his father learns of such an act years later, he condemns him to drown in the same ocean where he enacted his betrayal, only to be saved by the very same mermaid who brings him to a secluded island to heal.

Mydei would burn the world down for Phainon. Phainon would sacrifice his own happiness for Mydei. And the Central Hospital Security Department (along with the Head Nurse) is ready to chip in for a hotel room just to make it stop.

Mydei sleeps on, undisturbed. He always does. There’s something unfair about it, Phainon thinks, the way the prince can sink so completely into rest after passionate nights like these, as if nothing lingers beyond aftercare, as if nothing aches beyond the body. Mydei always had a habit of sleeping deeply whenever they spent the night together, unlike when they're out and about on missions. Phainon couldn’t help but trace his eyes at Mydei at his most vulnerable, at the softened edges of someone who, when awake, is all sharp words and sharper presence. At the face that never quite turns toward him in daylight the same way it does in sleep.

Mydei turns his head slightly and there amidst the crowd is a man, his strong back turned to Mydei as he observes a large, vertical painting of a village house in a green field. Mydei wonders for a brief moment how he didn’t notice him come in, considering his tall frame and hair color, he should have stood out more.
The man, wearing a garishly blue hoodie with the logo of the Okhema University stamped right across his back in yellow, a hint of something black around his throat, seems to be lost in his own world. People pass by him as if he’s not there at all, hordes of elementary school children don’t so much as bump into him, purses and jackets don’t brush by him even on accident. It is as if he has become a part of the painted landscape, a lone figure jutting out from the frame.
Mydei, CEO of Gorgo Inc., having funded half of the expenses for the building of the Okheman Cultural Museum, has to attend its opening ceremony one grief-ridden afternoon. There, by chance or by fate, he meets a young man with a haunted look in his golden-blue eyes, observing a painting. Here's a question for you: How do you hold onto somebody who seems intent on fading away?

He rubbed the area around the flesh, washing off the dried crust of blood dark against the lines of his tattoos.
Then, without ceremony, Phainon leaned forward and pressed a kiss there.
