"Hey!"
Something prickles at the back of her neck—Rumi glances in the direction of the sound just to confirm that yes, that was aimed at her.
The source, a short woman with a lopsided smile, rolls slowly up to them on a skateboard. She comes to a smooth stop with a sneaker and adjusts her hat with one hand. The other disappears into the pocket of her baggy cargo pants as she leans casually to the side, stopping her board with one foot.
She says something else, probably. Her mouth is certainly moving—but it's kind of hard to focus on that when her freckles are so pretty and when her big brown eyes look up at Rumi with the sunlight reflecting perfectly in them. Really, it's hard to think of anything at all but those pink lips and the blunt nails that play with the rim of her cap.
Rumi blinks in a bit of a daze.
"Hey," the woman says again. "You lost?"
Or: Rumi and Mira get lost on vacation. The good news is that Zoey is more than happy to help.

"It's been ages since I was last summoned," the woman purred.
"Who—"
Mira's jaw dropped, the question collapsing in her throat as a sly, predatory smirk curled across lush lips.
"The name's Rumi. But shouldn't you be more concerned with what I am?"
Mira's mouth moved again, but no words dared to come out. The smirk on the woman's—Rumi's—face deepened, stretching just a little too wide, almost Cheshire-like.
Then her eyes flashed.
"I'm a demon."
During her sorority initiation, Mira accidentally summons a demon. There's a price to pay.

"I'm almost done, Rumi," Mira said.
Rumi simply whined in response, too far gone for words.
"I know, I know. I'll call Zoey so—"
Rumi's hips jerked, and she came without warning. Mira quickly grabbed the third cup, aiming the opening toward Rumi's tip. Heat pooled low in her belly as drops of Rumi's seed spilled onto her fingers, leaving burning trails over her skin. Mira's center throbbed. She closed her eyes and took a steadying breath.
Easy now, Mira. Just do your work.
Without warning, Rumi leaned forward, grabbing Mira's face and pulling her in.
"Wait—"
"You got your samples."
"Rumi—?"
"I want what was promised."
Sharp teeth nipped at her neck before being soothed by a kiss.
"I want you."
Mira makes a deal with her subject, mermaid Rumi, to collect samples. She ends up studying Rumi's mating behaviors up close and personal.

Summary
Grabbing her phone from an unopened box next to the bed, her fingers touched the note she'd left right there as well. Just then she could hear a soft laugh, and, with wide eyes, looked around, startled and pulse spiking in surprise.
“What the-”
Another laugh, this time louder, full-bellied, something she'd heard earlier in the day.
Zoey.
Right.
Their bedrooms shared a wall. A thin wall apparently. Maybe it was a sign to make use of the phone number she had in arm's reach.

Alpha Rumi is new to the big city, a little bit oblivious, a little bit down bad pathetic, and also a virgin - good thing Omega Zoey is there to handle all that.
