Summary
Ptolemy's Gate canon divergence. Quentin Makepeace is determined to rope Nathaniel into his conspiracy to take over the British government. After summoning Nouda, a fearsome entity from the Other Place, Makepeace insists that Nathaniel undertakes the same novel procedure—binding a spirit into a living body. Desperate to save himself, his government, and commoner Kitty Jones, Nathaniel feigns agreement while secretly planning to summon his own demons to attack the traitors. At the last moment, he makes a different choice in the pentacle and binds his djinni Bartimaeus within him, changing the course of history.
OR: If Stroud’s ending to Ptolemy’s Gate is the good end, this is the bad end.
