"A date?" Shane's voice shakes a bit, like he's nervous. Which is absurd. He's not nervous at the thought of scheduling a date with his husband. Thank you very much. He's just—he's just not sure when they can get around to doing it, since they're really shooting for the cup this year with the Cens. And then they have the camps in the summer. Plus time to go to the cottage.
"Yes, husband. A date. I would like to take you out on a date. To the zoo." Ilya's eyes are swimming with mischief and humour.
Shane eyes him wearily. "Why?" It seems kind of strange, if Shane is being honest, that Ilya is insistent on the zoo date.
"Why what?"
"Why the zoo?"
"Ah, David said you liked the zoo. I wanted to do something you like."
