Summary
There was a feather on Bucky’s pillow when he woke up.
It was beautiful, dappled with brown speckles that faded to near-white at the tip. He spent a long moment just looking at it, running his fingers across the soft, delicate little barbs. Sam was usually meticulous about this sort of thing—his wings always impeccably groomed, always carefully contained and folded away, as if they weren’t the most extraordinary thing about him.
As beautiful as it was, the feather wasn’t a good sign.

Bucky insists he should reach out to ask this guy if he is the real Sam Wilson. Bickering and banter ensues.

Summary
The cold water pounded against his body, his teeth chattered from the chill, and his body shook; but Bucky stayed. He had to get a handle on his body, he wouldn’t fall to the whims of deep old biology, but maybe it was more than that. Maybe he had fallen for Sam somewhere along the way, not realizing until he was falling face first into dangerous waters. He’s never been one to fall like this, he usually had fun flings; but never this.
Steve is on the run, and entrusted Bucky to watch over Sam; but the tension between them has grown too much.

Sam turned to look at Bucky, whose eyes were soft. He knew they were soft. Sam had that effect on him. Sam looked away then, as a small smile pulled at the corner of his mouth. His smiles, no matter how small, always made something akin to a flutter settle inside of Bucky’s chest.
“I hate to admit it,” Sam proffered, and Bucky knew he was going for banter. “I'm glad you're here."

Everyone only gets to see a grumpy, scowling old-man, but Sam gets to see the other side. The soft side of Bucky Barnes. A man who completely dismantles himself in every way for Sam and only Sam.
The sight of Bucky Barnes pliantly resting against the headboard. Hands in his lap because he needs to fidget with the ends of his shirt until Sam can calm him down. It makes Sam feel warm and satiated inside before he even touches the man.
Sam would guess he'd be content not getting off at all. Could swear he'd be just as happy doing their routine with no satisfying end because it means that much to him.
