Turns out, Nick is questioning a lot of things. Charlie thinks he knows how stories like this end, but is thrown for a loop when Nick says he wants to take things slow. (This doesn’t work out for either of them.)

Most people knew this about him, most of his coworkers respected his nods or otherwise silent greetings and didn’t bother to try and converse with him.
All except one Nicholas Nelson, of course.
Nick was a morning, afternoon, mid-afternoon, and night person. Much to Charlie’s chagrin, Nick was a never-off-even-for-a-single-second-of-the-day type person.
And, boy, that irritated Charlie to no end because no person should always be that cheerful and happy and full of conversation.
