Summary
Cybertronians did not solely breath through their noses or mouths like many organic species. Suffocating was not a danger for them when being choked. Energon lines compressed for too long, however, could lead to fuel backing up in critical components, leading to burst damage in delicate capillaries. Left too long, the fuel would soak into cpu and brain module, leaving dead nodules that were finicky or impossible to repair. Of course, that was assuming that they didn’t straight up short-out in the first place - the inside of a head wasn’t suppose to be very wet.
But now was not the time to be thinking of how he could die.

Except that Jazz remembers learning about thirteen different bots as a sparkling living on the streets of Polyhex than the functionist priests preached, back when they still held power and before civil war started to devastate their planet. More: when a half-remembered prayer to a street frizz-rat's patron saint saves him from an impossible situation, his offers to Nocturn set changes in motion no one could ever have foreseen.
Because stories change with every retelling, and it turns out that gods aren't that easily killed.
And in their return may just lie the hope for an end to this war.
