Phainons' breath hitches. She is hungry. Covetous. Bold and ugly with want like desperate men in love are. “Should I gouge them out for you then, princess?”
She would, she thinks. At just one word of Mydei’s, she’d rip them out and offer them as crown jewels. Mydei looks at Phainon for a moment, then another, longer, unreadable thoughts passing through her pretty eyes — and then she crooks her head ever so slightly; gives a soft smile Phainon hopes no one else will ever see but her:
“Keep them. Keep them, and teach me, Deliverer. Show me how to appease the men that look at me the same way you do.”

People look at Mydei and perceive him as an alpha, so he lets them. He never tries to act like an alpha, nor has he ever said that he was one. He just is who he is. The public has decided that his presentation must be alpha, and no one has made any objections.
It would be comedic to Mydei if Phainon wasn’t also someone who believed him to be an alpha. And at first, Mydei didn’t care to correct him; he just let him go on being ignorant.
However, he never foresaw himself developing feelings for the “perfect hero.”

Immortal's Delight is tasty. The milk is rich and creamy and the tea has a fragrant somewhat floral aftertaste that he’s never experienced in Amphoreus. There are glutinous balls at the bottom of the cup that taste mildly of caramel.
Phainon gets a laugh out of the first five balls Mydei chokes on, until he is forced to explain, “You’re meant to chew on the balls, not swallow them.”
irontomb is defeated, amphoreus is resolved, the chrysos heirs part ways and explore the galaxy. phainon finds himself mourning and falling in love with his best friend.
