Dr. Ryland Grace had been teaching molecular biology at the university for three years now, and he’d gotten pretty comfortable with his daily routine. You could try it on, John said, slowly, hesitantly and Arthur didn't know why he in response just wordlessly raised the bracelet so John could take it from him. There was a click, quiet yet somehow unfathomable loud in the silence of the room and then Arthur felt the bracelet close around his wrist.
John's hand lingered for a moment too long, the warmth of his skin a sharp contrast to the cold metal and Arthur felt himself shudder slightly. Then John's hand moved away and Arthur was left with only the feeling and weight of the bracelet around his wrist. "How does it look?" Arthur asked. Good, John replied almost immediately. You … it looks good, Arthur.
John starts gifting Arthur jewelry. It takes both of them a while to figure out why exactly.
