But upon returning, he and his cousin, Deacon, a shy Gryffindor student, come to realise that the Triwizard Cup tournament is yet again being hosted by Hogwarts, and as Chase Hollow is notorious for doing, he puts his name in the Goblet of Fire for a chance to win.
Little does he know, the other two competitors have a more than aggressive competitive streak, and will not let him win so easily. So will he win the cup, or will the crowning title be given to another? Or will he find something just as valuable as the title of Triwizard Champion?

Summary
okay okay - so I wanted to put Buddy and Chase in a Situation (tm) where Chase ends up with a riding cloak that Buddy doesn't want to clean because now it smells like Chase. And somehow we got here.
Buddy and Chase enter a story about a Queen (the heroine) whose husband died last year. Their neighboring kingdom, and closest allies, lost their king a few years ago, so their Queen (the villainess), has been ruling on her own for a while. The newly widowed heroine seeks advice, comfort, and camaraderie from her ally, but the queens themselves never got along, despite how close their husbands had been. The villainess queen has always fancied herself self-sufficient, and it appalls her to see the heroine in such a state of misery, and because of this, refuses to offer help or comfort.
Chase, of course, doesn't fit this desperate-for-villainess-queen's attention bill, so there's no real villain actions to take because there's nothing to reject. And how is Buddy supposed to bring up that Chase's character is SUPPOSED TO be pining for him? How awkward.
Besides! It's almost /more/ villainlike to help Chase, since he so clearly doesn't want Buddy's help with the story. That makes it the villain thing to do. Right?

Summary
Typically, Chase and Buddy butt heads more often than not, but lately, they've had more good days than bad, threats have devolved into banter and playful jabs, and concern for Buddy's living conditions have taken up more and more space within Chase's thoughts. Now set on the decision to rescue Buddy from Ex Libris, Chase must figure out a way to convince Buddy that he can and deserves to be saved, but the chasm of distance between them is wider than he originally anticipated. Eventual happy end, but, geez, the Don Bluth-esque obstacles we gotta go through.
Rated for Teen And Up Audiences for select cursing and later descriptions of a spooky environment.
Time Pocket AU: Cinderella Boy but everything is the same except I've tweaked the definition of how time moves when in and out of stories.
Implied/Referenced Child Abuse: There are no acts of child abuse being explicitly described in this fic. Any child abuse is alluded to or done off-screen. Summary
If anyone were to turn the small town of Sugar Springs into the center of a media spectacle, it makes sense for that person to be Chase Hollow.
Everyone should be thanking him, really, for giving them all something new to talk about. Nothing interesting has happened in Sugar Springs in a while—not since the incident at the PTA bake sale a few months ago in which Diane Forenski not-so-subtly pushed Patricia Henderson’s carrot cake off her table before pretending to faint.
But even Chase has to admit: this is all a bit much—a huge step up from petty drama between feuding elders.
Everything unravelled when Chase made that fateful wish.
