He let out a disbelieving laugh, sharp and broken, his head snapping up as he stared at them like he couldn’t comprehend what he was hearing. “You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me,” he said, voice rising again, anger surging back twice as violent as before. “You’re seriously asking me that right now?”“I don’t fucking care about that Union!” Seongje shouted, the words tearing out of him raw and unfiltered, louder than anything he’d said so far. His chest heaved violently, his voice breaking right in the middle of it but pushing through anyway. “I never did—I did it for him!”
The last word cracked.
Completely.
Whatever anger had been holding him upright faltered, collapsing under something heavier, something far more unbearable. His breathing stuttered, his hand coming up to clutch at his own hair, fingers gripping tight like he needed to punish himself for something he couldn’t undo.
