Summary
Alastor and Lucifer have been rival deities for centuries. One day, Alastor takes one of his pranks too far, leaving Lucifer trapped on earth as a human. His only way home is to cross the celestial gates at the summit of Mount Celestia, a journey made even more difficult by Alastor and his shadow dogging him every step of the way.
Despite their meddling, Lucifer soon realizes that Alastor and his faithful shadow are not the worst part of being lost in the woods.

Most people didn't manifest the mark of their soulmate right away. Oh, sure, it happened – it had happened with Lucifer, before anyone had known what a soulmate even was, before anyone had realised such a thing was possible for angels – but it was pretty uncommon.
And it was absolutely possible for it to break – or fade. It was pretty unlikely on Earth, hardly ever happened during the span of a regular human life – but when the souls in question were immortal? Yeah, sometimes things changed. Relationships grew distant, love degraded. Once you'd experienced the bond fading – or worse, breaking? – no, most people were a little wary about throwing themselves into a new relationship.

Lucifer has experienced having a soulmate. Alastor has never been interested in the concept. Something is dreadfully wrong, because Lucifer is seeing shadows move out of the corner of his eye - and Alastor's claws are glowing golden.

If pressed, Lucifer didn’t know what he’d expected to happen to Adam after getting that much-deserved stabbing. Probably nothing. As in, actual nothing, obsolescence, a complete eradication from each and every plane of existence so that nobody would have to hear a single fucking shitty guitar riff again.
In retrospect, that must have been one of Lucifer’s very rare sparks of unfounded optimism.Or: 5 times Adam got put back in his place + 1 time Vox got the same treatment

Summary
After his divorce, Lucifer takes his five-year-old daughter to coastal Louisiana for what’s supposed to be a temporary escape before real life resumes.
Instead, Charlie starts laughing again.The town begins settling around them in slow, dangerous ways: warm rain on porch screens, late-night music drifting over the docks, grocery store routines, sleepy festival evenings, and a local radio host named Alastor who somehow keeps appearing everywhere Lucifer turns. Lifelong resident, terrible influence, and chronic disruption to Lucifer’s emotional stability, Alastor gradually becomes woven into the shape of their summer until leaving no longer feels nearly as simple as it should.
But summers end eventually.
And no matter how much Louisiana starts feeling like home, real life is still waiting for them beyond the coastline.
Still, some people leave pieces of themselves behind.
And sometimes that’s enough to find your way back someday.

Why?
Lucifer cannot stop the word from echoing around his skull. It clatters against every vertebrae on its way down his spine until it settles, heavy and cold, somewhere in between his hips.
The sun is falling: it presses greedy hands up against the stained glass windows. The light fractures in, and pointed claws of red and gold and violet close around Alastor’s shoulders- they fold into the fabric of his habit and something in Lucifer’s chest curls tight and angry with envy. Lucifer shifts, feels the way his knees ache from hours on horseback, the familiar tightness in his back. Alastor's eyes have fallen closed, and the hand holding the instrument steady flexes against the wood. Lucifer has seen those hands wield steel and clutch at the pale skin of his own thighs until they bruise. A low, simmering heat spreads across his bones, arousal and dread mixing in his gut until his cock twitches.

It’s… not like he wasn’t used to Alastor by now, in general. They had been around each other constantly since Mimzy’s club, dodging reporters from those Vees together, stamping out some reactionaries that came to attack after word got out and Alastor’s interview of him was broadcasted, fielding questions and concerns from Charlie… The shared spaces of the hotel were their shared spaces, and where they used to prod each other or avoid each other like the plague, they now hovered. Lingered a little longer before the inevitable bickering set back in. Righted the world into what it should be.
But it was never this.
