Whispers hail the church of San Valentin as a cursed place, with every priest being sent there dying a gruesome death. The church uses it to be silently rid of priests the institution wants gone. Father Jayce Talis has just been reassigned to it.

“Please!” He cries. “Mercy! Mercy!” His legs involuntary kick and thrash and his toes curl tight. Yet the giant thing in him twitches, No doubt in delight of what he looks like right now.
“Mercy?” The demon drawls. The finger on his slit starts rubbing hard in junction with the other hand’s pumps. Up and down. Back and forth. Nerves on fire. Danielo howls and thrashes around harder. Fat globs of tears roll down his face and he lets out one ugly cry after another. “Is this merciful enough for you father?” He says in a mocking grin.

The old man didn’t give Jayce a chance to finish.
“Allow me to cut to the chase. My name is Singed, I am a scientist, and I’m running a clinical trial for a certain pet project of mine. You’ve been selected as my first test subject. I’ve injected you with a mixture of specially modified shimmer and animal DNA. In a few minutes time, it will start modifying your body.”
From the treelines, Jayce saw another shadow begin to stir. It was much, much larger than the old man - inhumanly so and with gleaming eyes which reflected moonlight. Jayce gulped. Meanwhile Singed continued talking as if nothing was amiss.
“Behind me is Warwick, my current subject. I’m testing the extent of his predatory abilities tonight. Once you’ve transformed enough to register as prey, he’ll hunt you down and kill you. Please give him a good run.” Singed explained. Then, eyes squinting in a way that suggested a smile, the old man said. “It’ll produce better results.”

Summary
Play the cards you're given. Good advice that Giopara was offered early in his career, from older Academy scientists whose projects didn't always work out. He scoffed and ignored it, so sure that he would bend the world to his will. For the most part, he did. But now, seeing Jayce forced to come to terms with the chance he might never find a way home, he can admit the words have merit.
An AU where Jayce is sent to the League of Legends universe by the Anomaly and must work with his alternate self to get home. But what happens when they're unable to figure it out, and Jayce Giopara stops showing up on the Machine Herald's doorstep?
