It was supposed to be a one night thing. A fling. For old time's sake, nothing more.
They'd agreed on it, with George leaving for Florida in only a couple days, there wouldn't be anything else between them. They'd go back to being nothing more than a chapter in each other's stories; the words faded and lost to time itself.
Until, that is, a call comes through that changes George's life forever, and he's left learning to navigate this new realm with one hand reaching back to the past, and the other stretching forward to everything he yearns for. It didn’t happen like that, obviously. Instead it was a driveway and sweltering heat, with Sapnap watching on. It was Dream walking out looking like a damn god with the sun glowing behind him, it’s an awkward hug and an unfamiliar smell.

Almost a year had passed since the call, as George had titled it in his head to avoid acknowledging everything else that it was—so much more than a call. Almost a year since George had confessed to things he’d expected to take to his grave, and almost a year since the two of them had wordlessly moved on like nothing had happened at all. In that time, they’d never spoken about it, which, to be fair, wasn’t unusual. They had also never repeated it.
In over nine months, Dream had woken George with a phone call only twice, and both had been while he was still in London. One was because of a nightmare, and the other was because he was bored and George had been asleep for over twelve hours. Since the call, Dream had not requested any further physiological ‘help’ from George.
