They lurch forward, wrapping their arms around his shoulders and burying their face in his neck; took in the scent of their shampoo and body wash and his natural musk. It was real. This was all real. That in itself was perfect to them.
"It's not simulated. It's not some mockery of the human experience meant to keep us satiated long enough to not abstract— it's real. It's real." Reagan pulled back to look at Felix, hands grasping at his face. "I'm actually touching you," they pressed a firm kiss to his lips, "and kissing you, and seeing you." Wide eyes dart over his form. "Take your clothes off. I want to see more."

"Who is 'we?'" Nyx asked, and Xanthe gave a hum, tying off the end of the braid.
"The Watchers. You can probably gather what we do based on the name. You would be one of us. After training, of course, you would be given a single player world or a server to Watch over. You would only Watch, maybe create some puzzles for the players."
"If you were only meant to Watch, then why are you here? Talking to me now?"
"I saw potential in you."
Nyx never had any answer to the offer. It's not like they could really end up giving one, though. A week later they woke up in a desert, three hearts in red, yellow, and green on their right wrist.

Nyx's peaceful life within their solo world is turned on their head when they're sent to a death game with a group of strangers. At least not much can reach them on this desert mountain.
