“Neon Gospel” became, in many ways, a collection about survival.
Not simply physical survival, but emotional survival — the quiet, exhausting act of continuing to exist after grief, trauma, loneliness, violence, and time itself have taken pieces out of people over and over again.
Set beneath neon lights, rain-soaked skylines, empty highways, late-night radio stations, and the lingering ache of things left unsaid, these stories explore the fragile spaces between intimacy and isolation, desire and fear, tenderness and destruction.
Told primarily through the perspective of Lady, the collection focuses heavily on the quieter humanity hidden beneath legends like Dante — the exhaustion beneath the humor, the grief beneath the performance, and the dangerous comfort of finally being seen by someone who understands the parts of you the world was never meant to survive.
Inspired heavily by music, melancholy Americana, dreamlike nocturnal imagery, and emotionally driven character studies, “Neon Gospel” ultimately became less about demon hunting and more about damaged people trying to find connection in the aftermath of everything that should have destroyed them.
