I started reading this fic at around 2 AM and finished at 5 AM. was probably not a good idea to do because I’m emotionally unstable at night but honestly i have no regrets it kinda added to the vibe
but seriously, I think this fic permanently altered something in me psychologically. like i had to take a 30 minute break and stare at the wall and just think about life after I finished reading. I was literally on the verge of tears when I thought Craig had killed Tweek just to discover that he actually DIDN’T and TOOK HIM BACK WITH HIM. like i think i got whiplash reading the last line i’m so deadass it emitted a visceral reaction within me.
now to talk about the actual writing & story:
i really REALLY loved the writing. The way you described things and the scenery, it was like I was in a dream with the way I was able to picture everything so clearly. That’s something that takes TALENT.
vampires may be a bit of a stereotypical concept in media, but the way this was portrayed was so, so lovely. I love how this fic kept the reader waiting until halfway through to see Tweek’s point of view, and it didn’t feel forced. It felt earned (if that makes sense). I also really liked all the characters used, like Estella & Scott which are characters you don’t see at all when it comes to fanfiction and the fact that the two play a crucial role in the story is so nice. Maybe I don’t read enough fanfiction, but I’ve never seen a storyline quite like this one and that’s amazing.now i want to talk about Craig & Tweek’s dynamic because holy shit it BROKE me dude. the fact that they love each other so much and Craig’s family sees Tweek as family and that Tweak’s family only cares about business is so in-character. AND WHEN TWEEK FINALLY GETS HIS REVENGE AND WON’T LET HIS PARENTS PROFIT OFF OF HIS “DEATH”? OH ITS PEAK!!
- i also haven’t seen chronically ill Tweek being portrayed so that was a very nice addition!! Like the juxtaposition from when he went from freaking out about the murders to not freaking out and being the one to tell Craig not to worry??? AGHH I LOVE IT! AND THE VAGUENESS?? it felt intentional. like tweek wasn’t only keeping it from Craig, but from the reader too!! which is so nice and saves so much frustration from reading fanfics where they reveal things too early.
CIRCLING BACK TO TWEEK & CRAIG’S DYNAMIC… dude where can i find the craig to my tweek this was so adorable i felt lonely after reading it. like what the fuck i needa find someone who loves me the way craig loves tweek i need to find someone who loves me like how tweek loves craig. the fact he’d give up ALL of south park just to save craig? im in TEARS. and craig loves him just as much it’s so nice to see it being reciprocated but it literally makes me feel so lonely like im jealous over fictional characters. im sobbing.this fic was such an emotional roller coaster and i loved every second of it.

as I’m bookmarking this, there are only 13 chapters, and I’ve binge-read them all in the span of a few hours (I’m a slow reader…)
The detail here is IMMACULATE. I’m able to picture everything almost perfectly, even though I skim over a few things. The scenery??? gorgeous. I love love love how you can tell that there is time & effort put into creating every small thing, even the most important lil things.
my favorite part has GOT to be the characterization. oh my god, words alone cannot stress how absolutely PHENOMENAL the author wrote all of the characters, even just the small little side ones. It’s so adorable, I’m in love with it!!! The way Shadow Milk is still in character, up to his mischief, and Pure Vanilla being so calm & patient with him has my heart <3 they are so adorable. Shadow Milk slowly warming up to him throughout the chapters, oh the character development!!! You can clearly tell there’s been a difference between him when compared the 1st chapter to the 13th chapter, but it’s portrayed realistically!! which i think is the most important part. the pacing isn’t too fast to the point you can’t keep up, but not too slow to the point where you’re getting bored. It’s a balance of the two which I can admire.
That chapter where Shadow Milk Cookie went into his disguise as Lady Milk Cookie (ahem lowkey forgot her name..) had me giggling the whole time, and when Pure Vanilla turned out to be in the inn?? and SMC and Black raisin cookie?? TO DIE FOR. And the metaphor for PV’s sheep and wolf being SMC and PV himself (at least that’s what I assume)? it’s so adorable and offers a lot of insight to how SMC views their relationship and how PV views it. The idea of Shadow Milk hating himself or believing that a beast is all he could ever be is so interesting to think about. I’ve seen it portrayed in other fics, but it hasn’t been done nearly as well as this one has.
Shadow Milk & Pure Vanilla are two characters who are very hard to characterize and write in general, with their relationship being so complicated. But here, their relationship & characters are written so well I’m at a loss for words.
This has easily become one of my favorite fanfics, if not then my favorite.update: it's now chapter 25 and what the fuck is going on WHAT HAPPENED OH MY GOD
anyway, in all seriousness, i have an update! there's very clearly a reason as to why this is the biggest shadowvanilla fic to like, ever exist. i once heard it described as the bible for shadownilla fans and i 100% agree LMFAO.when going into reading this, i didnt know it was gonna update this frequently but honestly im so happy it does! everytime there's an update, i'm always so excited to see what it has in store. something new always happens each chapter, which is because sometimes i'll read a fic that's updated but the new chapter is just a filler chapter of sorts, but there's not really any filler chapters here. every single chapter always has a new scenario.
i've also noticed that there's a lot of references to previous chapters, which is SO lovely to read! Like ill find myself reading this and then suddenly there'll be something i remember from previous chapters that, at the time, seemed unimportant. like the garden that PV wanted to go to? i had completely forgotten about that, just for it to be mentioned & they actually end up going is so nice. like i remember i was on the bus and i ended up missing my stop when i was reading it LMFAO.i do want to say that there's been a few situations that give me second hand embarassment (like smc becoming the wolf thing kinda makes me wanna kill myself, but at the same time it's a cool addition to the story, so it's not like a whole meaningless thing if that makes sense?)
i also wish we got to see more interaction between smc, candy apple, and black sapphire. it seemed like that situation was a bit rushed and it was more for filler than a genuine interaction between the two. i just wish there was more dialogue between them and it was more expanded upon, so hopefully we get to see more interactions between the deceit trio!!!!! i'm curious to see if they notice how smc has changed and their opinions on it. will they still accept him? or will they hate the change? either scenario is interesting to me, and i really hope we can see what route jamma takes.
but that's really my only criticism, and even if that doesn't happen, it's still a very very interesting story so far. i love it -
