Summary
Jason gets magically de-aged, and Bruce believes he gets a second chance to care for his son, to fix it all. Jason doesn't remember anything, but the body remembers, the soul remembers, and he acts on instincts. He knows that Alfred is kind, that Barbara is a safe person, and he knows that Bruce isn't.
He can't shake the feeling that something bad is going to happen to him, and that feeling gets worse every time Bruce gets near.
Bruce wants a fresh slate, Jason is terrified.

Summary
Of course, in the amazing luck of loss that is Bruce’s life, there comes a day where he realizes he might not be enough to save his children. There's the night that changes everything, the night that he races to the warehouse with something that feels so similar to a heartbeat racing in his ears.
He gets there just out of time. Grief, something so strong that it almost sends him to his knees, wracks through him as he cradles his son's dead body in his arms, something that was never supposed to happen like this.
Still, he tries to make it right. Fangs slide into his son’s neck so easily, and a sob almost makes it way past Bruce’s throat when Jason stays limp in his arms.
When he detaches fangs from Jason’s neck, he brushes dirty locks of dark hair from his boy’s forehead. There are smudges of soot and blood smeared across his face, and Bruce does his best to clean it off as he waits.
And waits.
And waits.
Or, Jason dies in the warehouse and Bruce tries to make him a vampire to save his life, though is just too late. When Jason wakes up in his grave very much not human, it changes things.

Jason finds the wound on Bruce’s throat with unerring accuracy, and coaxes the clotted blood there to soften with a few licks. When he latches on, he drinks in hasty draws. His hands flex against Bruce’s chest in a mimicry of a kitten’s kneading. Bruce’s vision swims.
A moment later, Dick grasps Jason’s shoulder. “That’s enough, Jay.”
Jason growls—a weak, reedy noise—and digs blunt teeth against Bruce’s throat in his desperation to hold on.
“It’s alright,” Bruce says, laying his hand over Dick’s.
Dick meets his eyes. “He’ll kill you.”
Let him, Bruce thinks. Oh, god, let him.
After his murder, Jason’s family brings him back to life.
There are side effects.

Tim drags his eyes away from the screen, letting them slide through the cave in an attempt to stay awake.
Jason Todd, former Robin, is standing in front of the display case with his outfit.
“I told him to take it down,” Tim’s mouth says without input from his brain.
Jason glances at him, then turns back to the case. “Pretty poor taste, considering I’m not dead.”
“Huh,” is all Tim can come up with. “It was covered in blood, dude, something went down.”
He gets an airy wave, wiping valid facts away like dandelion fluff. “Jumping headfirst into method acting isn’t a good strategy.”
That’s–that’s–Tim’s brain genuinely shuts down, because there’s no good way to respond. It’s almost psychotic enough to be true if he didn’t know for a fact that Jason Todd was beaten, blown up, and buried.

Steph should have known, on tonight of all nights, not to make a mess of things by opening her stupid mouth. Tonight, when they had just finished an assignment and done some good, when Jason’s truce with the family was slowly turning into something less fragile, when it was cool and quiet and Jason was sitting next to her on the other end of the crane, calm for once. They’d been getting along the whole night, which was nearly a record for Jason and the Bats. He’d even given Steph a fist bump after dealing with the drug ring, and Steph had learned to cherish every positive interaction you had with Jason, just in case he decided to cut ties with you the next day. She really should have known better.
Steph had always been so good at making messes.
“What was your mom’s name?” she blurted out.
“What?” Jason’s masked face snapped towards her, like he couldn’t believe what he had just heard. Steph couldn’t either, to be honest.
Or, Steph and Jason have a conversation about mothers.
