“Dizzy?”
“No, I’m good. I can walk fine, it’s just a little- it’s tilting a little.”
“You gonna puke?”
“I’m not gonna puke,” he says as he clumsily lowers himself to the tiles. “Ohh it’s really fuckin cold down here.”
Within seconds, he’s a comfortable heap on the floor. Syd sits down next to him, laughing at how at peace he seems.
“Uh Syd…”
“What’s up?”
“Could I- could I ask you to do something?”
“What kind of a something?”
“It’s-it’s like I almost want to but not enough, so could you uh could you make me puke?”

Carmy decides to reset his life with (most of) a bottle of wine even though he’s an impressive lightweight. He and Sydney’s conversation drifts as he starts to decompress more and more.

“It’s good.”
He wonders what it would be like to lean forward, press his lips to hers, and mount that pressure until they split open like a body of water. He wanted to know what it tasted like from her point of view. He wants to lap at her, consume anything she's willing to give him until he's full and even then he'll continue to gorge himself. There’s heat in his stomach and his hands slightly tighten where they’re holding her chin.
Holding her face like this makes him feel religious. He wonders if the same thought will plague him when he's cradling her hips, when she's holding him down. There's a flash of horror as he thinks of cannibalism and finally understands it. Love. You'd do anything to survive it.
