Summary
Aventurine makes it out of the abyss - and into a different world. Things are different here - simpler. There are no Aeons, no intergalactic factions and corporations, no Paths and Blessings. He is not naïve enough to assume that there is no cruelty and discrimination here - for there always is - but for the most part, everything is peaceful.
Here, Aventurine's priorities are getting people's coffee orders right. Fairly straight forward, if you ask him.
Except for the bit where he is surrounded by too many familiar faces, and they remind him of a place he can no longer return to. That's okay. People come and go, and so will they.
Except for the bit where they come and go and come back.
AKA. Aventurine gets dropped into a coffee-shop AU with all the memories from before. He's handling things until he's not handling things. That's okay, because he still has friends (and Dr Ratio) in this world. He just doesn't know it yet.

The soft pitter-patter of the rain on their temporary home brought comfort amongst the chilly draft.
If the furnace burned through the night, smoke floating up the makeshift chimney to the cold outside world, no one said a thing. If no one’s mind fully went to sleep and whispers became their new language, no one said a thing.
