Summary
A modern AU Hamlet set in a contemporary police precinct, following Horatio as he becomes entangled in the aftermath of Lieutenant Hamlet’s death and his son’s unraveling grief. It starts with a break-in at the precinct, and our characters are forced to confront questions of loyalty, truth, and perception as events spiral into tragedy.
I have never done a modern retelling of anything and I'm very much enjoying it. It follows the play's events to a fault (?? as in, I read the play and I take advantage of the dramaturgical storytelling), with a lot of tweaks to fit modern day context better. Hopefully this fic reaches someone seeing as the Hamlet fanfic writing fandom is sooo small guys come on let's write more Hamlet fanfics😔 I am procrastinating absolutely everything by writing this.

Summary
In the Sultanate of Kharzul, infertility has cursed generations: barren wombs and children who do not survive. To preserve bloodlines, harems and the trade of Carthaginian slaves — a fertile people said to be blessed by Isis — became a cruel necessity.
Sahib Al-Zahran, the gentle and beloved crown prince, knows of the suffering only in theory. He has never truly seen it.
Until he collides with Caliph, a runaway Carthaginian slave fleeing through the streets of Luxor. Sharp-tongued, defiant, and deeply scarred, Caliph challenges Sahib in ways no courtier ever has. When guards capture him for public punishment, Sahib intervenes — and buys his freedom.
Now serving as the prince’s secretary, Caliph enters the palace that helped shape his pain. Between wary glances, political pressure, and late-night conversations, guilt shifts into something far more dangerous.
Because loving Caliph means confronting what Kharzul truly is — and deciding whether a gentle prince can break chains centuries in the making.
