“Intuitive?” you ask her, accidentally grazing a still-hot baking pan and jerking your hand back.
When you love someone…” She catches you by the wrist, drags your hand under the faucet, and runs it. “You want to do right by them. And you’ll never meet someone you love as much as you love your child.”
“Well, unless you’re you,” you remind her. “In which case you’ll meet me.”
A smile tugs at her lips. She reaches up and thumbs your chin.
“Unless you’re me,” she agrees easily.

HI I AM PERSONALLY HERE TO KICK EVERYONE IN THE TEETH
But also me in front of my conspiracy board: we don't know how much time actually passes between episode 17 and 18, and while it's kind of assumed that Epsilon self destructs immediately, the fact that we know North says "this time" about Wash waking up and that Epsilon is pictured in sidewinder also suggests that it wasn't the first time. Also, I still think though that would be traumatic, it doesn't completely explain Wash's reaction that a boundary was crossed, when he refuses to work with any AI ever again. In this essay I will beat this poor man with a shovel and watch as he puts himself back together again. I don't necessarily consider this a rewrite so much as a filling the blanks on Wash's early emotional heel face turns in seasons 6-10.

The reason I'm bookmarking this should be fairly obvious, and if it isn't, I'd go sit in a corner and think about what you've done. It is easy to think of an abuser as someone who is mean, who is cruel, who will never change. It is much more difficult to perceive that person as just that - a person. Someone who exists separate from you, from your life. People can grow, and they can choose to change.

A gamebreaking glitch tore the game session to shreds, right before they reached the end. Dirk Strider was already dead at the time. Temporarily. Which left him to revive in the aftermath. As the Prince of Heart, he doesn't have much experience putting souls back together, only breaking them, but at this point he seems to be the only one who even knows shit is broken.
He's the last person who'd trust himself with this. Not when he's out of time, out of place, and over his head being responsible for a little brother, a life, and a body his conveniently dead asshole of a splinterself already, thoroughly fucked up.
AKA: A game crash creates an unholy mashup of who the hell knows how many sburb sessions, and Dirk-as-Bro attempts to figure out wtf happened and how to fix shit for the brother who fears him, and the friends who don’t remember him. Because that’s what he does. But no Dirk has ever excelled when truly alone. Good thing he isn’t, he just needs to learn how to accept the help.
