Summary
Regulus has always known he's destined to drown. He feels it deep in his chest, past his rib cage, nestled somewhere behind his organs. He feels it in his arm when his mother squeezes it a little harder than a mother should. He felt it, the water rising in his throat, when his brother slipped out the window and into the night. He often wonders if it'd be easier to just let himself sink.
He often wonders if he has a choice.
Regulus gets sent back to school with a mission from the Dark Lord himself— find the “beast in the chamber” and claim its fangs without killing it. But when a certain curly-haired bespectacled boy asks for a rather large favor, everything suddenly gets a lot more complicated.

Summary
To James Potter, starting university feels like being born a second time. Again he is brutally thrown into a new and unfamiliar world which, this time, he must learn to navigate all on his own. He has to drag himself through the struggles of growing up, making friendship that will last, discovering who he is and learning how to live this strange life, all while keeping up his perfect image. That is, until the pressure of maintaining his reputation as the sunshine boy comes crashing down around him, and the cracks can no longer be stuffed with lies.

Possessive, obsessive, greedy.
All these things nobody had ever thought to describe James with. And all were unmistakably true.
Words not even James himself had known would ever fit him and now they were all he could think about. Taking, keeping, owning.
It was maddening at best, all consuming at worst.
James craved, he had starved and he devoured.
He was still starving. He thinks it will never cease.
Not when it came to his cloud boy, his black coffee and awful tea boy. Not when it came to Regulus Arcturus Black.Regulus in contrast had always known he had greed. So he had refused to even glance at James once too many before he could ask for more. Ask for all of him.
All in vain when James Potter made it his mission to push and pull on his life till it finally let him in. All in fucking vain when James Potter sees the blood on Regulus’ hands, wipes it off with his own clean shirt and helps him hide a murder. Regulus’ murder.
As it turns out it was hard not to demand everything when James cuts out his own heart and lays it before his very feet.
Will Regulus take it or step on it?
Or will he simply do both?
