ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. i love how this characterizes caine, he's so exceptionally stubborn in such a painfully inhuman way. i understand the frustration the troupe has trying to reason with and explain to him so well, but god i hope this goes somewhere good for him.
i feel like this series encapsulates everything i like about tadc perfectly. it's introspective, it takes itself seriously, it examines what's wrong with the circus and presents a world where something is actually done about those problems, creates a narrative where caine tries to listen and help instead of spiraling into a broken rage. i'm almost certain this will end with him breaking, too, but i think (ot at least hope) it will go somewhere happier than canon. either way, i'm invested.
