Summary
The story ends as it always does: a reveal, an ultimatum, a beheading.
Every world, every timeline converges on this point. The theft must be punished, the dead avenged. That which has been stolen must be returned. The story always goes like this: to protect their sibling, the eldest steals, and feels nothing for the wronged. The wronged watches their life fall down around them, and is pinned in place by the need for justice. The youngest knows nothing of the theft until it is too late, and is betrayed and left alone.
This time as any. The way the story must always end.

Summary
Most have come to fear the consequences of being entangled- loving so deeply that you will sooner sacrifice yourself than see them go. Few know the truth: it is often better to die entangled than live to see that connection wither and die.
Meng Yao has a perspective that is perhaps unique in the known galaxy.
He is a research director in charge of a team charged in part with understanding entanglement as a phenomenon. He reads the most up to date research on a regular basis, often the first who is not an actual scientist to lay eyes on the results. For all that he lacks the advanced degrees of those in his charge, he understands the basic theory and results just fine.
He is also entangled twice over.

Summary
He Xuan was an academic on the planet, studying planetary homeostasis on terraformed bodies, when everything started unraveling. Given the magnitude of their contributions, they were supposed to have a berth on the last 'ship out.
But when they got there, they were told the real human "A-Xuan'' was already aboard. There was no more room for anyone else, and so He Xuan was left to burn with the planet.
