A lone man wandered the road, clad in Old-World armor as weapons both old and new hung from his back and sides. He was the legend, the myth, the Boogeyman of the Mojave. His every step was paved by a thousand corpses. Neither the Bull nor the Bear could stand to him. An army taken the shape of a man.
None dared to intrude on his pilgrimage, all those that tried were dead from the lowly coyote to the great Deathclaw. His steps were slow and centered, unerring in their march. Up the road he walked till he turned left, Black Mountain before him. He scaled that too, steps unfaltering as he rose and rose till finally, he was at the highest peak in the Mojave, able to see the entirety of the desert with his Eagle Eyes.
Mr. House's Securitrons were everywhere, shaping the Mojave to how the enigmatic autocrat wanted. Maybe the Wastes would be better, maybe it would be worse, maybe it wouldn't change. He stopped caring. He took one last breath of filtered air before grabbing his Hunting Revolver and putting the muzzle right beneath his chin. The guy’s dressed like disco incarnate. Broad shoulders filling out a green blazer with odd patches on the back, flared pants that are some shade between orange and yellow. All paired with an odd pair of crocodile heels that clack aggressively on the ground when he moves. And boy, does he move. He talks with his hands—gesturing along with his words, as if to better convey his point. And he steps when he gestures. A particularly sharp finger in one direction gets him a small step to the left, a clack of his heels against the ground.
Meanwhile, the other man at his side holds his arms neatly behind his back. Surveying the scene. The same weird patches, but this time sewn onto a neon orange jacket with a popped collar. He’s much more composed than his … err, friend.
Scratch that. Martin narrows his eyes.
Yeah, no.
He’s not exactly in on the queer scene as it is, but he’s met enough elder gay couples to spot one from a mile away.

After waking up in the middle of nowhere with a pounding headache and an eye he's very certain he didn't have a few days ago, Lucky Valentine believes he's correct in thinking he is in way over his head. Through a tense meeting with an arrow tattoo bearing kid and his merry band of elemental sorcerers, he learns he's forcefully punched his ticket on a train to the climax of a hundred year old war, in a world untouched by nuclear fire, where regular people can bend water at their beck and call, and crack the very earth with nothing but a firm kick.
