Summary
When Pope hits her bed, he sleeps like a stone.
Samira doesn't think much of it at first, waving it off as exhaustion. When he comes to her, he comes with all of that Cody tension set in his jaw and shoulders. She learns fairly quickly that he moves through the world waiting for the other shoe to drop. Even when he was with her, with his mouth to her throat and his body pressed solid against hers, some part of him keeps watch.
But sleep seems to come easier when he presses his head to Samira's chest, listening to the beat of her heart.

Summary
Jack watched Samira’s whole body freeze up, the colour draining from her face as her lungs started to struggle to take in oxygen, her eyes began to dart around the room and look towards where Perla was looking over a chart approaching the hub.
The hair on the back of Jack’s neck rose up as he watched Samira start to hyperventilate in front of him, “Samira, are you ok-”
Samira frantically looked between where Perla was talking to someone and looked around their vicinity until she spotted the gap underneath the desk in front of them, and without hesitation she dropped to her knees and scrambled to crawl beneath the desk.

Samira choked on an intake of air and turned her head to Joy as she walked through the doors, away from triage. “C-Call…call Abbot.”
Joy frowned. “Uh, okay? Dr. Abbot’s not on shift, is he? I heard he was sleeping.
“Just call him!”

Summary
Jack shifts, drawing her focus back, and he's still watching her, now with his arm lifted in invitation. It doesn't matter that they're in a poor excuse for a sauna nor that they cuddle plenty every single day. Anytime that Jack coaxes her in like this, she jumps at the opportunity. She presses against his side, then shivers at the feel of their bare bodies being flush. She went more years than she'd like to admit being totally touch-starved. Sometimes the ripples of relief still surprise her.

Their air conditioner may have broken down during a heat wave, but Samira and Jack still can't keep their hands off of each other.
