Summary
Dan and Phil broke up in 2017. Today, Phil is a (slutty) gay media personality with a string of unsuccessful relationships and Dan is a (closeted) standup comedian with virtually no friends. The two of them have history — a lot of it. Stalkers, birthdays, suicide attempts and radio shows. Laughter, tears, codepency, growth. Much time has passed since they decided to put an end to all that.
When Dan’s manager persuades him to go on Phil’s podcast in order to promote his new tour, the both of them reconnect, just as Dan is contemplating a public coming out. Meanwhile, having once again broken up with someone who wasn’t quite the one, Phil is starting to believe he might just not be made for relationships.
Phil loved him a lot. A lot, a lot. You look nice today. You’re so funny. Let me touch you. Kiss me, fuck me, I love you. These are things he used to hear every day. They would call each other names until one of them ran out of steam and had to say I love you. Fuck. That prickling feeling behind his eyes again.

And then Dan does something unexpected – after weeks of avoiding his gaze, nervously doing small talk with him, talking with everyone around him but never with Phil directly, after hours of trying to ignore Phil’s insistent stare, Dan looks back.
And his gaze isn’t even challenging, it’s not questioning, it’s downright pleading. His brown eyes are wide, soft, desperate, and there’s a blush rising from his neck to the tip of his ears, and suddenly, the last puzzle piece falls into place and Phil knows what it is.
“Dan,” he mouths.
Dan and Phil are broken up. And then Dan shows up to dinner with PJ while in sub drop.
