“I was born human,” Gale says, eventually. “In fact, if questioned, I probably still consider myself human, although I think it's fairly evident that this is no longer the case.”
“No shit,” Karlach says, sounding awed. “I mean, sorry mate, it's just… wow.”

Summary
Astarion, a new comer to town, begins working for the local bakery in an attempt to fit in with the locals. He makes his rounds every week, but always looks forward to one particular stop. The woodsman, Gale, who lives out alone in the forest, is a handsome, strapping man, one Astarion has his eyes set on. After weeks of visiting to bring freshly baked bread, Astarion turns things up a notch, hoping to ensnare to man for himself.
Gale, who purposely isolated himself from others to protect them from his dark side, finds himself caught by Astarion and his allure. Whenever he would spy the red, hooded cloak coming towards his cabin, his heart would hammer in his chest, and his feet would carry him towards the man. Despite his attempts to resist his desires, he can only keep his inner beast chained for so long.
Both of them are hiding a secret, and on this fateful night, all is revealed between them.

I made a dark mode site skin that embraces the classic red. Apparently AO3 didn't allow for users to make their skins public anymore so I decided to post it like this!
The skin makes the background black and the text white. Grey and the classic red are accent colours!
Works for desktop and phone great! Feel free to edit and use the CSS however you'd like! But keep in mind this was my first time coding so the CSS is a mess for those of you who are actually good at coding.

The most useful one is the ability to turn into a bat at will. Getting blood-drunk on Gale in exchange for promising to hunt down a mosquito in the room is perhaps not their finest idea but it does lead to some interesting consequences.

He worried about Karlach and Wyll in Avernus, of Lae'zel in the astral plane, of Shadowheart and her parents - but no single member of their party occupied his thoughts like Astarion. In ways he never considered, Astarion took up residence in his mind, in his heart. Gale smiled softly, running his fingers through his greying hair. "Of course.”
