The laugh that broke out of Daigo shook his shoulders and split his face wide. It rolled deep in the air and echoed under a guttural punch. Daigo dropped his head to smother his laugh, eventually ending it with a pleased sigh. “Maybe. In Kiryu's absence, Nishiki is doing his best to hold down the fort and be the kind of man everyone is wanting him to be but it's proving much more difficult than he could have ever imagined.
A late night anger walk around Kamurocho to clear his head only makes things worse, leaving him not only with his thoughts but a torrential downpour, a soggy suit, a wasted cigarette, and even more of a chip on his shoulder.
Things finally start to look up, though, when he takes refuge in the MEB shop front and he's recommended a pick-me-up at Club Shine for a night that will change his life.

Phoenix harbours no illusions that getting his badge back is going to be an easy task, even if the hardest part of clearing his name is technically over. He's fully aware that his reinstatement is going to be a bit more complicated than just passing the bar and is going to be more of a case of:
Step 1: Save money to retake bar exam
Step 2: Study frantically to pass said bar exam
Step 3: Pass bar exam
Step 4: Hope and pray that he'll somehow be able to still pull in clients after his reputation got burned to the ground
Step 5: Haircut
Step 6: New suit
Step 7: Finally, finally confess his passionate love for Edgeworth that has been eating him up inside for the past 25 years
Step 8: ???? Lawyer???Thankfully he has a pretty solid support network of people willing to help him out. And if Edgeworth has anything to say about it, they'll probably be able to cut out a few of those steps along the way.
Which is why Phoenix promises himself one thing. If he passes the bar again, he is absolutely going to kiss the Chief Prosecutor square on the lips. Whatever happens after that, they'll just have to wait and see.
