Summary
“Come here, kid.” One of Robby’s hands catches Dennis’s and lands against his sternum, trapping his arm against his chest, while the other stays in his hair, fingers winding into damp curls. Dennis’s attention is everywhere and panicked. He catches a flash of Perlah readying the needle and a desperate sound punches out of him.
“Nope, don’t look at that,” Robby says, using the hand in his hair to force his head back, angling his vision away from the commotion and up towards him. Dennis’s eyes lock onto his, pupils blown wide. “Look at me. Yep, good. I’m right here. You’re doing so good, honey. Just keep those eyes on me.”
The IV tourniquet snaps into place and panic flashes anew in Dennis’s face. ”Robby—”
“I know. It’s just Dana and Perlah. We’re just pushing some fluids, no more drugs. You’re safe.” Out of the corner of his eye, Robby can see Perlah speeding through what has to be the fastest IV placement of her career, Dana keeping her grip on Dennis’s hand to stop him from jerking away. Dana shoots him a glance of warning and Robby tightens his hold. “Okay, quick poke now. Still just us. Deep breath, Dennis. I've got you."

Summary
The first couple of dollars that the machine ate up without remorse were an annoyance, something that made Dennis sigh and unzip his wallet without thinking about it to try again. By the time that the vending machine had eaten seven whole dollars, in coins, and Dennis didn’t have anything to show for it, he was close to thumping his forehead against the cool glass and hoping he could derive some sort of enjoyment or nourishment from simply just looking at the colourful packages as they remained firmly in their coils.

Summary
Hank Anderson wants nothing more than he has right now: working a quiet night shift, watching shows with his kid on weekends, walking his dog, and generally not having to give a fuck. The dull peacefulness of his life is interrupted when an android sent by the USPS makes it his mission that Hank receives his mail daily - which Hank has been dodging for years, because physical post should be obsolete and, also, see the bit about not giving a fuck. Unfortunately, this RK800 - called Connor - only cares about the requirements of his mission, which tell him to ensure legal and timely delivery of the mail, no matter what's in his way.
Hank thinks Connor needs to obey the instructions of the humans around him. Connor knows he needs to accomplish his objectives. Somehow between the two of them, they fuck up a whole lot of shit before they slowly develop a truly meaningful understanding.
Expect unexpected deliveries, sprinklers in your face, begrudging trips to both kinds of hospitals, a lot of embarrassingly confusing questions, Rube Goldberg traps, extensive apologies, a lot of exploration of what it means to be human, and a bunch of ridiculous bullshit. Connor looks at the bottle in Hank’s hand, and the time of day, and the fact that this was his first stop after work on a route that veritably leads back to his home on Michigan Drive, and he wants to somehow connect those things to the notion that Hank maybe seems like someone who could use a friend right now, and maybe Connor could use a friend in this new world too, but there’s no way to articulate any of that without revealing too much about himself or too much about what he knows of Hank. So he remains stuck on the other side of that wall and says, “Okay.”
“Hey… another time, maybe.”
It’s the kind of hollow sentiment people offer one another when there’s nothing left to say. Still, Connor echoes it. “Another time.”
