Summary
After returning to Remnant and finding themselves in Vacuo, Team RWBY finds itself short a leader, as Ruby Rose takes a hopefully temporary step back from her role, and from the team in general, to focus on her mental health in the wake of what happened in Atlas and the Ever After.
Her teammates take this about how one would expect. But as Ruby knows from her time spent obsessing over weapons, sometimes you have to break something to make it better than it was to start with.

Summary
Raven Branwen left her fledgling family and newborn daughter behind believing (or just determined to believe) that she wasn't fit to be a parent. Four years later, her estranged wife Summer Rose attempts to recruit her for a desperate strike against Salem herself without much in the way of a plan. In response, Raven knocks Summer out and drags her through a portal to Tai.
After discovering that her erstwhile spouses have had another girl without her, and that little Ruby's inherited silver eyes make her a vulnerable target for Salem's forces, Raven ends up involving herself in the family's lives despite her own awareness of how likely the resulting romantic tension is to blow up in all their faces and her debilitating fear of somehow ruining Yang or Ruby purely by proximity.

“You know Professor Lupin was a werewolf?” Hermione said, ten minutes into a very awkward lunch she had asked for in an equally awkward letter.
Lavender pushed a sauteed carrot through a little puddle of pasta sauce. “I think everyone heard about that one. Someone told the papers, or something, right?”
“Er, yes,” said Hermione. “Snape did. Which is what I– I mean, it’s related. Oh, I wish you’d gotten to talk to Remus about this. He was a lovely man.”
“Not as lovely as Lockhart,” Lavender said and she and Hermione spent a moment in wistful remembrance. “God, I feel old,” Lavender said.
“Anyway, Snape,” said Hermione. “Snape and Lupin. When Lupin was at school, Snape would make him a potion that would… tame him, on full moons. He could just curl up in his office and sleep by the fire. If you’re interested, I’m trying to learn how to brew it myself.”
Lavender shook her head. “We’re not friends,” she said. “Never have been. So why are you doing all this?”
Hermione looked like she was trying to say “we’re friends,” but she couldn’t get it out.
