Summary
Fidelity to a cause is easy as long as you believe most of what they're doing is right. Fidelity to yourself is a lot harder, because it's easy just to see your life as a series of failures rather than a series of successful recoveries from failures. Learning something from each of them.
Clint Barton has had very few precious things to feel that strongly about, but everyone has to grow sometimes. Like most of his life though, it's not exactly a straight line or an easy recovery.

Fidelity by amriel. Promotion to Level 7 is difficult, but Clint and Phil had spent a lot of time together and separating would be harder. A love story between international spies stretched out across continental distances and buried behind classified documents, told through calendar invites and 15 minute gaps between meetings. Phil/Clint, SHIELD AU, the characterisation is flawless. With the right person, fidelity is easy. Nick Fury would never allow those idiots to elope, not on his watch, they’ll get several wedding celebrations, spread out across months.

Love of a Particular Kind by Laura Kane (laurakane). Phil/Clint omegaverse AU but based on birds. Wooed by the world building and the smut, swooned like an Austen character over the courtship. The universe is fascinating, in a want-to-live-in-it way. The characterisation is good and this is ridiculously smutty and fluffy, there’s almost no angst. Feel good read.

The Biggest, Baddest Kids In The Sandbox by WriteThroughTheNight. Phil Coulson and Nick Fury never got recruited into SHIELD, and instead established a criminal empire called The Agency, content with being highly competent and organised group of incredibly rich villains. Phil and Natasha have to temporarily play heroes however, when Loki invades Earth and mind-controls Clint Barton, who is Phil’s husband and has him hugely compromised, and that slight will never go unpunished, not by people as merciless as him. SHIELD is incredibly incompetent, the Avengers are a group of dysfunctional little boys, and if the Agency ever decides to go public with world domination they would lose miserably, likely for them, working in the shadows pays better, there’s no reason to change something that works. Phil/Clint evil(?) competent (cannon) SHIELD members. One of my favourite AU.

After death he is reborn into Voldermort’s secret son, and has to redefine himself with a mildly insane Barty Crouch Jr and a terrifying house elf for guardians in a world where Neville Longbottom is the boy-who-lived and Harry Potter never existed, but Harry Riddle does. Voldermort being alive is a complication, but at least one of his parents is living. An excellent exploration of the ideals behind Death Eaters. Reincarnation, Slytherin Harry.

Never Did Run Smooth by astolat. Geralt, believing that his best friend turned into a frog, looking for any mention of ‘the curse of the sun’ (a shady hint, from a shadier source) in an abandoned university library, and consulting absolutely no one about his decision to undertake the trial of the Cult of the Black Sun, becoming his daughters intended with the only way out being marrying Emhyr, her father and the Emperor of Niflegard. Emhyr has the most controversial Empress in the history of Nilfgard and probably the continent, who is a reckless, highly competent, idiot. Emhyr/Geralt, and the ‘it could’ve been worse’. My favourite fic in the tag, almost.

Nice let go of Lin Ling’s face and pulled his phone out. Instantly Lin Ling saw several current news articles and videos covering the scene and Nice saving him. Countless comments were underneath praising Nice as well as Lin Ling for trying to save the kids himself. Some comments were even focusing on an image of Nice holding Lin Ling in the air, Nice’s face thankfully obscured so no one could see his demonic side. The camera’s focus was on Lin Ling tightly clinging to Nice. All of those comments were calling their meeting cute, borderline swooning at the thought that perhaps something else would bloom from their meeting.
“W-What the hell?” Lin Ling’s face turned pink. “This has to be a prank.”
“Afraid not. Many of my fans and the public alike think our meeting is rather adorable. A hero saving a citizen who’s a rather cute young man? People were bound to take the story and run it in a romantic direction.”
Instead of saving Moon, Nice saves Lin Ling and begins to fake date him. (Oh, and Nice is also a demon. Not that anyone would believe Lin Ling if he told them.)

In a world where demons and exorcists exist, though nobody believes they do, and top hero Nice saves Lin Ling instead of Moon, causing the public to become fixated on their romance. Things become a lot more complicated when Lin Ling is an exorcist with traumatic experiences and Nice is a high-ranking demon. Demons cannot lie outright, and Nice wants Lin Ling desperately and possessively. Exorcism is performed through prepping and planning, which are truly the most terrifying things. Lin Ling/Nice, To Be Hero X, possessive and unhealthy relationships.

there is no ‘try’ by itsthechocopuff. Master Yan Dooku and Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi after Melidaan, through the eyes of themselves and others. Obi-Wan is too old and tired to care about who knights him, after time travelling to the start of his first war and making similar decisions that end up snowballing into the council realising Qui-Gon’s neglect and appointing Master Dooku, he can only feel hope and relief. Dooku is just glad to have this world weary polite and diplomatically inclined padawan who has too many secrets and prophesies hiding behind his eyes and highly competent lightsaber strikes. There has never been two Seers in the Order and Sifo-Dyas is just glad that he is no longer alone with the horrible future. This is a compilation of the series ‘do or do not’ in chronological order, and is my favourite flavour of Dooku training Obi-Wan. The future is always in motion, and that means that it can be changed.

Luke Skywalker—as fresh-faced and young as the day he became the successful destroyer of the Death Star—was standing in front of him.
