In my defense, I didn’t know how names worked until like 500 years ago.” Gene drops his head against the wall of his cell, staring at the ceiling as something almost like contentment weaves it way through his ribs like a silver ribbon. “Gene and Djinn. What a pair we make.”

     

    Gene the Genie gets kidnapped by F.O.W.L and has a pretty rough time of it. But at least his cellmate isn't too bad.

    Usagi Yusuke is the second son of Hidden Tokyo's Usagi Clan. He is a mediocre, masterless samurai-in-training. He is also, abruptly, a father. The last of those, according to his elder brother, is a shameful thing. The last of those, in Yusuke's opinion, makes the former unimportant. He will do what he must to provide for his son, even if that means moving half a world away and cutting ties with his family entirely.

    Of course, just because he has loved and let go does not mean his nephew has the same intention.
